          TripleLift makes first ever acquisition of 1plusX data for $150 million

          Last week leading programmatic Ad-tech company TripleLift said it is acquiring 1plusX, a business that helps publishers and advertisers reach audiences using first-party data, for roughly $150 million.

          The deal comes as the marketing industry is developing new strategies to efficiently reach consumers amid numerous privacy changes, including Google’s plan to block third-party cookies in Chrome next year.

          Buying 1plusX, which is based in Zurich, Switzerland, will help bolster TripleLift’s first-party-data capabilities as privacy becomes more important in the U.S., said Ari Lewine, co-founder and chief strategy officer at New York-based TripleLift.

          “We think that we’re moving into what we call a privacy-centric era for digital advertising, where all advertising will have privacy as a major consideration in a way that hasn’t been previously,” he said.

          The acquisition is meant to bolster TripleLift’s two-pronged focus on CTV and identity, TripleLift Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder Ari Lewine told AdExchanger.

          TripleLift has sponsored content integration tech and identity solutions for programmatic advertising without third-party cookies.

          The best way to think about 1plusX, which solves for the identity challenge, is as a revamped version of DMP designed to address post-cookie advertising.

          TripleLift, the advertising technology company reinventing ad placement at the intersection of creative, media and data, today announced the acquisition of 1plusX, an award-winning first-party data activation platform. 1plusX has unique technology to help both publishers and advertisers address their audiences with privacy-centric solutions.

          The media industry has been changing rapidly. Third-party cookies, cross-domain and cross-app targeting, and audience choice are all evolving to better control user information. As a result, digital advertising will need to be rebuilt from the ground up. By joining 1plusX’s privacy-friendly solutions and TripleLift’s scaled media marketplace, publishers can better monetize their content and advertisers can more effectively reach their audiences.
